    Hi Michelle,

what you need to turn brooches into pendants is something called a brooch converter. It's basically a tube with a bail soldered on the tube. You put the brooch pin through the tube, fasten the pin, and VOILA! You have a bail hanging from the brooch pin. If any of the brooches have holes or piercings near the top, you could also use a hinged necklace enhancer bail. Look on eBay or in your jewelry supply catalogs for these items.

Leo, thats quite interesting. I always wondered how one might do this and the fear of using a soddering iron in some crude manner that could risk ruining the design seemed like the only way. *bookmarks this link*

A brooch converter! When I think of what I did to turn a brooch into a pendant, I cringe to think of how much easier it would have been to have used a converter. I've removed the pin attachment and then used holes, etc. to attach the brooch to a necklace as a pendant.

Or, if the strand of beads or necklace you want to use with the brooch is small enough (the size of the beads, that is), you could always just clasp the brooch around the strand/necklace. That way, you could wear the necklace alone or with the 'pendant'.
